Technical editing services
If you have to write in English, and if it is important that you write
well, you probably need to have your writing edited.
Everything needs editing: website pages, reports, brochures, prospectuses,
contracts, advertising, academic papers, manuals, text books, posters,
leaflets - everything. There are official road signs in the UK punctuated
wrongly – they too, it seems, need editing.
We offer two levels of editing
1. Basic proofreading
Proofreading involves getting the text to conform to rules of spelling,
punctuation, grammar and paragraphing and checking for consistency of punctuation
style and format.
This kind of editing takes up to twenty minutes per page.
2. Full editing
Full editing includes proofreading and also consideration of the subject
matter with the intention of finding ways of making the text more effective.
This can, at times, involve some rewriting. An editor looks for ways to
simplify the language and make a text easier and pleasanter to read so
that the thought processes of the author are easy to follow.
Here is an example: A Czech business consultancy describes itself in
an expensive glossy brochure as a: firm is specialty on designing and
realizing the social policy activities and entrepreneurship development.
Edited, the extract reads:
The firm acts as consultants for official organizations, designing
and implementing policies. It also specializes in developing entrepreneurship.
Prices for editing and proof reading
Prices are worked out by charging about £15 (20 Euros) for one
hour's work. Some things need more work than others so we give a quote
based upon a couple of sample pages.
